Eat the Devon Devon Rainbow
In May 2025, for the Devon County Show, we devised a relaxing colouring activity showing fruit and veg that are grown in Devon. Aimed at KS1 & KS2.
If you’d like a copy of the sheets we made, please download here:
You will need:
- Printed ‘Eat the Devon Rainbow’, one per child.
- Colouring pens, red, orange, yellow, light green, dark green and purple (buy extra red pens).
- Devon fruit & veg pictures to stick onto the rainbows (download on link). We printed these in colour and cut the shapes out in advance.
- Glue to stick the fruit & veg onto the rainbows.
Key messages:
- Eating a rainbow of foods is good for you, and tasty
- All of these fruit and veg are grown in Devon
Further conversation:
- Seasonality of fruit and veg grown in Devon. Some fruit and veg can be stored to eat through the winter (eg squash, apples). Sometimes we preserve fruit and veg to eat through the winter (eg. tomatoes into tomato sauce)
- Have you grown your own? Have you picked fruit or veg straight off the plant? (eg. blackberries)
- Growing a variety of plants is good for the environment (biodiversity)
