Receive Funding, Promotion and Support from Public Health Devon to Provide an Attractive Offer for Young Families on Low Incomes, Eligible for Healthy Start
The Public Health team at Devon County Council would like to support more families in Devon to access their Healthy Start entitlement, and to use it with local suppliers selling sustainably produced food.
The Get a Healthy Start Local Fruit and Veg Box project therefore aims to encourage families to try out local, affordable fruit and veg box schemes with no financial risk, in the hope they may like to continue spending their Healthy Start entitlement on an ongoing, affordable subscription. It is also hoped this funded trial will support suppliers to explore how they can provide food at affordable prices to young families experiencing financial difficulties in a way that is viable for their business.
Support from Public Health at Devon County Council will include funding two free trial boxes per family, creating, designing and printing information booklet and recipes to include in trial boxes, creating an ongoing bank of recipes for after trial period, and promoting and advertising the offer with Healthy Start eligible families.
