Great Big Green Week is the UK’s biggest ever celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature.
Every year, people come together to unleash a wave of support for action to protect the planet. Tens of thousands of people in every corner of the country celebrate the heartfelt, brave, everyday actions being taken to stand up for nature and fight climate change.
Great Big Green Week sees everything from litter picks to letter writing, festivals to football matches, seaweed foraging to school assemblies. This year, several of Devon’s Fairtrade towns have planned their own celebrations:
- Okehampton will be hosting an eco-fair on Saturday 17 June, with a focus on bio-diversity, working with the local farmers’ co-op.
- Totnes is providing Owens Fairtrade organic coffee during their coffee mornings.
- Chudleigh will share the diocesan exhibition at Chudleigh Parish Church called ‘This is our story‘, hold a Fairtrade wine and cheese event, and have a stall at the town’s fete on Thursday 29 June.
In 2023, Great Big Green Week will take place between 10th and 18th June. Find an event near you and take part!
